Wilsonville Equestrian Center’s Winter Riding Camp offers a unique opportunity for kids to continue learning and developing their horseback riding skills during the winter season. Designed for riders ages 8–14, this structured program combines riding instruction with hands-on education in a safe and supportive environment.

Whether your child is new to horseback riding or already has experience, our winter camp provides a productive and engaging way to stay active, build confidence, and deepen their understanding of horses.

A Structured and Educational Camp Experience

Our winter camp follows the same proven teaching philosophy used in all of our programs. Each camper is guided through a structured learning process that ensures they develop skills safely and confidently.

Throughout the week, campers will:

  • Participate in daily horseback riding lessons
  • Learn horse care, grooming, and handling
  • Explore horse anatomy, biology, and behavior
  • Gain a deeper understanding of horsemanship

This well-rounded approach helps riders become knowledgeable, capable, and confident both in and out of the saddle.

Our Certification-Based Learning Approach

At Wilsonville Equestrian Center, we use a structured certification program that allows riders to progress step by step. Campers are introduced to this system during their time at camp, ensuring they build a strong foundation before advancing.

Each rider will:

  • Begin with an orientation and skill evaluation
  • Be placed into the appropriate level
  • Receive instruction tailored to their ability

This process ensures that every child feels comfortable, supported, and set up for success.

Daily Camp Schedule

Winter Riding Camp runs Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM, providing a total of 20 hours of structured instruction and activities.

Each day includes:

  • Riding lessons
  • Horse care and grooming
  • Educational sessions on horse science and behavior
  • Hands-on learning experiences

This balance of riding and education creates a fun and engaging environment while delivering real skill development.
